IOP In Chicago; a seamless path to recovery

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a structured treatment program for mental health conditions and substance use disorders that provides care between traditional therapy and inpatient care. IOPs are designed to be an alternative to inpatient and residential treatment, and are a good option for people who can't devote most of their time to a residential program. Oftentimes patients come to an intensive outpatient program after leaving an inpatient facility.

There are many benefits to an Intensive Outpatient Program in Chicago. A few are the ability to work while in treatment, the housing provided, and the real life skills training that can be found within the Hendrickson House of Sobriety program. The focus on mental health and proactive steps to take to reduce negative emotions help tremendously in achieving a sustainable sober lifestyle. Group therapy is used often in outpatient programs.

Group therapy in outpatient treatment refers to a form of psychotherapy where a group of individuals with similar issues, like substance abuse or mental health concerns, meet regularly with a therapist to discuss their experiences, challenges, and coping mechanisms, providing support and accountability to each other within an outpatient setting. What supports treatment in being a seamless experience is the ability to live at the facility for the duration of the program. Patients are also advised to find employment to begin the process of getting back into the workforce. Treatment is typically around 12 weeks but duration varies depending on each individual situation. Groups are scheduled for 3 to 4 hours a day 5 days a week. During those hours residents are laser focused on how they can better understand themselves to avoid negative experiences and implement positive changes to build healthy routines into their lives At the conclusion of the group each day residents are released
